In 2005 the company successfully competed internationally and won a UN tender worth US$7 million to supply the UN with vehicles for peace mission and monitoring in conflict areas. The Contract was renewed for another two years.
During period under review, the inherited WMF’s weaknesses in weak stock control, theft, poor quality inspections etc were turned into strength and health and safety conditions changed to the better.

During period under review, WMF factory was registered as a manufacturer in terms of the Labour Act of 2002 to be able to comply with industrial and manufacturing standards and regulations.

The Mk II model participated at Vehicles Technology Test in Fort Knox Kentucky State of the USA in 2005 and has impressed top world military In 2004, WMF won a Manufacturers Tender to build Vehicles for the UN Peace Missions at value of USD 7.4million up to October 2007. The annual production capacity of Mine Protected Vehicles (MPV’s) increased from 25 units per annum to 50 units.

The introduction and implementation of a Budget System with Budget Control Authority Levels enhanced internal controls and minimised risks.
A new advanced Financial system ACCPAC has been acquired and implemented successfully for stock control, records accounting, production and service related activities
A full equipped supporting workshop has been established at Grootfontein to improve our service delivery closer to the NDF headquarters.

The use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) during R&D and testing has been developed and enhanced
In 2005, Quality Management System (QMS) was introduced and WMF contracted TUV Reinhardt Group, a Quality Certification and Audit body for International Standard Organisation (ISO) DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 to review the policies, procedures, and audit the quality of all products.

A new Certification on products, procedures for DIN EN 2001:2008 will be completed during 2010 and   WMF will continue hoisting and fly an International Certification Body flag at its premises.

The introduction of Health and Safety Policy and Waste Management Policy has improved oil spills in the Municipal sewer and good housekeeping.
